Overall, the NHL has grown in popularity quite a bit over these last few years, and it has allowed all of the teams throughout the NHL to increase their valuations.

A great example of this took place this past week as the Tampa Bay Lightning were sold for a whopping $2 billion. It was a deal that a lot of fans were taken aback by, but it just goes to show what billionaires are willing to pay right now.
Interestingly enough, Sportico has followed up this sale with a huge list that contains the valuations for every single professional sports team in North America. From the NFL to NBA to MLB to the NHL and even the MLS, there is a lot of interesting information here, and you can check it all out down below.
Unsurprisingly, the Toronto Maple Leafs have the largest valuation in the league at $2.65 billion. The New York Rangers are not far behind at $2.45 billion, with the Montreal Canadiens coming in third. The lowest valuation in the league belongs to the Utah Hockey Club, which is still being shown as the Arizona Coyotes on this list. Despite this, they are still being listed as worth over $600 million, which is nothing to scoff at.
As for the overall list, the Dallas Cowboys are at the very top with a valuation of over $10 billion. The lowest team is CF Montreal of the MLS, which is only worth $440 million. Needless to say, if you want to own a professional sports franchise, you better start saving your money now.
Are you surprised by these numbers at all? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
