Matthew Gaudreau and his brother Johnny were killed by a drunk driver on Thursday night while riding their bicycles in Salem, New Jersey.
Overall, this was a senseless tragedy that fans are still in shock from. The perpetrator, Sean Higgins, is currently facing 20 years in prison on counts of driving under the influence and death by auto. Furthermore, he was seen in court today, where he showed little to no remorse over what he did. It is disgusting, and fans want to see him put away for life.
Meanwhile, the Gaudreau family is dealing with a horrific loss of life. According to TMZ, Matthew's wife Madeline is going through unimaginable pain right now as she is currently carrying the couple's first child. On a registry website, it was stated how she was even due to give birth on December 31st of this year.
Both Johnny and Matthew were in Salem this weekend as their sister was set to get married. The wedding has since been called off due to this horrendous tragedy. Earlier today, the family put out a statement that was led by Jim Gaudreau, the uncle of the two brothers.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Gaudreau family during this incredibly difficult time. We hope and pray that everyone involved gets the support that they need as this will take a long time to overcome.
