Marco Scandella is an NHL veteran who played 15 seasons in the league and was able to amass over 700 games worth of experience, while also notching a total of 170 points.

Throughout his career, he played for teams like the Minnesota Wild, the St. Louis Blues, the Montreal Canadiens, and even the Buffalo Sabres. This past offseason, Scandella became an unrestricted free agent and it was believed that he was going to be signing with a team in Europe.

However, in a new report from Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, it was made clear that Scandella will not be continuing his hockey career. Instead, he has decided to retire, once and for all. It probably wasn't an easy decision, but it was one that he felt he needed to make.

"I was talking about it yesterday in the game broadcast. Marco Scandella is retiring after 784 games in the NHL. The Montrealer had received an offer to play in Europe a few days ago, but decided to hang up his skates."

We wish Scandella the best of luck moving forward. We're sure he will be enjoying some of the time off before he decides what he would like to do next. A 15-year NHL career is nothing to scoff at. Only time will tell whether or not he will become a coach, or simply take on a new project that keeps him inspired.
