Gary Bettman is the commissioner of the NHL and while he has done a solid job of growing the game, he has made some other horrible decisions that have alienated fans.

One decision that fans have absolutely despised is the league's insistence on using Fanatics as their supplier. In the past, Fanatics was only making the jerseys sold to fans. However, they are now making the jerseys that the players wear out on the ice. This is a big problem as Fanatics is notorious for bad quality control of their products. Fans are constantly getting jerseys with incorrect numbers, misspelled names, and even easily torn fabrics. It is ridiculous, yet the NHL insists that Fanatics is the way to go.
Well, it seems like the company won't even change its ways for official game-worn gear. Today, it was revealed that Matty Beniers of the Seattle Kraken had his jersey torn to complete shreds. It was a pretty horrible look, and it just goes to show that Fanatics is not the way forward, regardless of what the NHL may say or think.
If more jerseys end up doing this, then it may just be the wake-up call the NHL needs. This is simply not acceptable. It is not acceptable when it happens to the fans and it is certainly not acceptable when it happens to the players. If anything, this could actually cause some real safety problems if this continues. Then the league would have some real liability on its hands.
Hopefully, Fanatics is able to figure it out. It benefits everyone if Fanatics puts out a good product. Unfortunately, they have been averse to doing that over the past few years which has given them such a crumby reputation. Only time will tell what happens next.
Do you believe that Fanatics is one of the worst decisions ever made by Bettman? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
