Former Ottawa Senators player Alex Formenton was one of five former Team Canada World Juniors players charged with sexual assault following an alleged incident in 2018.

Dillon Dube and Michael McLeod are two of those players, and they are both going to be playing in the KHL this season. The other two players are Cal Foote and Carter Hart, who are currently training and hoping to make a swift return to the National Hockey League. As for Formenton, he is going in a different direction.

According to a new report from CBC, Formenton has taken up a job in construction. In fact, he is learning how to operate heavy machinery. Needless to say, he seems to be accepting the idea that his hockey career is over.

Formenton lives in Barrie, Ont., and has "moved on from a hockey career," the court documents state, but is working full time in construction and getting "ongoing training in the operation of heavy equipment as well as the administration aspects of his new trade."

Formenton and others plan to plead not guilty to the charges laid out against them. A trial is only going to start in September of 2025, which means they have a year to prepare for the upcoming legal battle. Many hockey fans will be keeping a keen eye on this to see how it all plays out.
