In order to cover legal costs, former NHL player Esa Tikkanen is holding an auction of some of his most valuable career mementos. Tikkanen is currently embroiled in a court dispute in Finland.

For those who haven't heard, Tikkanen is facing aggravated tax fraud charges in his native Finland and last month, a hearing was postponed to a later date, which has yet to be set.

According to Hockey Worldwide on Instagram, Tikkanen even had some of his possessions seized by Finnish police in 2023. His seized property was valued at 168,000 euros, or $182,406 USD. He eventually received his land back after that decision was reversed.

"Last year, he had 168,000 euros of property seized by Finnish authorities, but that was overturned." Hockey Worldwide said.

The 59-year-old Tikkanen has auctioned off four of his Stanley Cup rings, including his 1994 New York Rangers ring and three during his tenure with the Edmonton Oilers. Tikkanen's first Stanley Cup win with the Edmonton Oilers in 1985 is the only ring he has chosen to preserve.

Two of Tikkanen's jerseys are up for auction in addition to his Cup rings. One dates back to his Rangers days in 19931994; the other is a game-used jersey from his 1998 Washington Capitals Stanley Cup Final appearance.

You may find all of Tikkanen's collectibles at Classicauctions.ca. The opening offer for each of his four rings is $5,000 USD, and the auction is already open.
