Former Arizona Coyotes owner gives up full control of the team to NHL
By bringing the team back to the NHL, former Arizona Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo has finally put the finishing touches on what's left of the franchise.
After several excruciating years, the narrative of the Arizona Coyotes has finally come to a conclusion. The team will vanish and be given back to the NHL. The only way to bring it back now is through growth.
Sportico and Puck Report claim that Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo has informed the remaining employees that he will be dissolving the Coyotes within the next month or two.
‼️🚨 #Yotes owner Alex Meruelo has told remaining executives that he is dissolving what's left of the franchise within a month, per

.
#Yotes name, logo, and rights to PHX area will be returned to the NHL
He will keep Tucson Roadrunners (AHL) and move them to Reno, NV upon completion of a a new 10,600-seat arena (2026/2027?)
What a disastrous conclusion to the Arizona Coyotes' hockey existence, exemplified not only by their on-ice misfortunes but also by a subpar ownership group who were wholly unprepared to manage a franchise in the National Hockey League.
Meruelo still owns the Tucson Roadrunners of the American Hockey League, but he also intends to move the franchise to Reno, Nevada, if a new arena is constructed there in a few years.
The supporters of the Tucson Roadrunners and Arizona Coyotes both deserved better. The franchise has a terrible conclusion with this. Particularly considering how long supporters were held up.
