Florida Panthers return the Cup for next step after wild week of partying
After a week of wild celebration, the Florida Panthers have had to return the Stanley Cup for the ceremonial etching of the player's names.
The Stanley Cup, one of the most coveted trophies in sports, has been confiscated from the Florida Panthers by the Keeper of the Cup, Phil Pritchard. However, the reason for this is not due to the team's excessive partying, but rather to repair any damage caused during the celebrations and to have the names of the players engraved on the Cup.
The Florida Panthers have been celebrating their Stanley Cup win for weeks, and it's understandable that the team would want to savor their victory. However, the Keeper of the Cup has taken possession of the trophy to ensure its safety and to complete the necessary engravings.
While it may be difficult for the team to part with the Cup, even temporarily, the reason for its removal is a positive one. Having one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup is a significant honor, and the team will undoubtedly be eager to get the Cup back once the engravings are complete.
According to NHL.com, Phil Prichard, the 'Keeper of the Cup' packed up the Stanley Cup after a late night out following Sunday's championship celebration in Fort Lauderdale.
On Monday, Prichard flew the Stanley Cup to Montreal where he handed it off to Louise St. Jacques who will painstakingly hammer the names of 52 players and staff into the silver.
The Florida Panthers' victory is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and the team will surely be thrilled to have the Cup back in their possession once the necessary repairs and engravings are complete. The Keeper of the Cup's actions are a reminder of the importance of preserving the trophy's integrity and ensuring its safety for future generations of players.
