The Boston Bruins' captain, Brad Marchand, who will be starting his final season on a contract next season, was recently questioned about his future by general manager Don Sweeney after the team's season ended. It is clear from Sweeney's statement that he wants Marchand to stay put.

Marchand, 36, inked an eight-year, $49 million contract during the 201617 campaign. Marchand has spent his whole fifteen-year playing career in Boston. Although his aggressive style of play frustrates his opponents, it makes him popular with teammates and spectators alike.

Sweeney spoke on Marchand's future at his news conference at the end of the season.

«Yeah, we're going to get to Brad. He's learning patience as a captain as well,» Sweeney told reporters, per a Bruins transcript. «So, he has to learn there's some ducks in a row in terms of adding to our group and how he wants to add to that, and those guys that don't have contracts up ahead, and eventually he'll extend here. He'll be a lifelong Bruin, that's what we should do. But we'll check that box.»

It would be hard to picture Marchand in any other jersey. After years of terrorizing the league with Boston, it would be fitting to see him sign a contract to finish with the same team.

You might love him or hate him but you will be entertained by Brad Marchand.
