NHL player agent Allan Walsh has strongly criticized NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and the league for turning a blind eye to the detrimental effects of fighting on players' long-term health. Walsh's remarks come in the wake of the tragic passing of former NHL forward Chris Simon at the age of 52.

Earlier today, reports emerged detailing Simon's passing, sparking an outpouring of heartfelt messages from the hockey community. Simon, who played in 782 NHL games across seven franchises, including the Quebec Nordiques, was remembered fondly by each of his former teams, including the New York Islanders, where he spent two seasons.

Expressing his frustration, Walsh condemned the NHL's denial of the cumulative impact of repetitive head injuries, citing Simon's 101 fighting majors throughout his career as a stark example.

"I'm angry and devastated at such a senseless tragedy. 101 fighting majors and Gary Bettman still denies the cumulative effects of repetitive head impacts. There is retired NHL players blood on Gary's hands. My condolences and sympathies to Chris' family and friends."

Walsh's poignant words highlight the urgent need for greater acknowledgment and action regarding player safety in the NHL. Our thoughts are with Chris Simon's family during this difficult time.
