NHL training camps are still in the early stages but it appears one team has already been bitten with the injury bug.

Eastern conference contender Tampa Lightning may have some serious concerns in goal with elite netminder Andrei Vasilevskiy dealing with an injury in the day-to-day range. The good news for Tampa is they have plenty of time on their side.

According to Lightning beat writer Chris Krenn, head coach Jon Cooper spoke about goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy dealing with an injury; take a look.

Jon Cooper said Andrei Vasilevskiy is day-to-day right now.

«He's wrestling with some things right now, physically. It's early in training camp, so we don't need to rush anything along with him. When he's ready to go, he'll be out there.«

Long-term injury?
«Not as of now, no.»

The 29 year old has seen his numbers decline a little bit the past two seasons, posting a .915 and .916 save percentage. In 2020-2021 he posted a stingy .925 save percentage.

Vasilevskiy has been involved in a lot of games for Tampa. He has played over 60 games the last two seasons and over 20 starts in three of the last four playoff runs. The miles catch up to everyone.

In a game seven situation Vasilevskiy would still be the top choice for most coaches around the league.
