Sebastian Aho signs a massive new contract with the Carolina Hurricanes

Rumors have swirled for weeks that a deal was close, but today the Carolina Hurricanes officially announced they have signed center, Sebastian Aho to an 8 year extension. The deal begins next season is worth a total of $78 million, an annual cap hit of $9.75 million.

Hurricanes General Manager Don Waddell had the following to say about Aho.
Sebastian has developed into one of the best two-way centers in hockey. He's a tremendous leader on and off the ice who sets a great example for our younger players. We're grateful that he's decided to stay in Carolina for the foreseeable future.
Aho, celebrated his 26th birthday today has spent his entire career with the Hurricanes. Aho has scored 218 goals and added 250 assists.
Aho's extension, which kicks in for the 2024-25 season, will help to set the market for upcoming deals for players like Elias Pettersson and William Nylander, both of who are looking for new deals.
