Alex Edwards, currently plays for the Victoria Royals of the Western Hockey League. Edwards however won't be suiting up for the team for awhile as he will be missing a major portion of the 2023-24 season after causing an opponent to spend days in hospital. The incident happened during a game last Saturday.

The league wasted no time making its ruling today, with Edwards being issued a 25 game suspension.

"In addition to the severity of Edwards' actions, other key factors considered in the decision include the severe injury to the opponent on the play and the fact Edwards is a repeat offender, having been suspended twice previously last season."

"Edwards will be eligible to return to the Royals lineup for WHL Regular Season game #280 on Friday, December 1, 2023." - WHL"

The Everett Silvertips provided an update to fans on the status of Dexter Whittle, the player on the receiving end of the hit. According to Everett, Whittle was released from hospital as of Tuesday, but there is no timeline for his return and he's listed as out indefinitely.

Video of the hit shows Edwards slamming into Whittle from behind, causing him to crash into the boards.
