New York Rangers top prospect goes delivers huge hit as he defends a teammate
Physicality is one of the toughest talents for a prospect to bring from Junior Hockey into the NHL. It appears that won't be a problem for Rangers top prospect Brennan Othmann. Othmann was a known agitator in junior hockey who was known for throwing his weight around almost at will.
Tonight, Othmann showed that his style of play will translate perfectly to the NHL and that he will have zero problem implementing his style at the pro level. After teammate Kappo Kakko was caught off guard by a big hit from Scott Mayfield, Othmann took notice. On a play behind the net Othmann caught Sebastien Aho with his head down and took the opportunity to land a big hit.
On the play Othmann received a penalty on the play, but the powerplay was ultimately negated when Islanders defender Grant Hutton took a roughing penalty of his own.
