NHL player reinstated by the IIHF after serving 4-year suspension for doping
It's been four years since Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov has been eligible to play in International competition. Kuznetsov recieved a ban from representing his home country for four years after testing positive for a banned substance.
Evgeny Kuznetsov's four-year suspension for violating anti-doping rules is over.
He has regained the right to play for the national team in tournaments under the auspices of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
"Recently, the IIHF notified me that, due to a positive test for a banned substance, I would be suspended from international competition for four years. I have made the decision to accept this penalty." - Kuznetsov, 2019
The end of this suspension comes at a tough time as Kuznetsov's home country of Russia are currently banned from international play, which could prevent his return to Team Russia.
