NHL Secures Multi-Million Dollar Partnership Leaving Fans Annoyed
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is known for prioritizing business, even if it means sacrificing some fan enjoyment. Despite recent sponsorship issues, the NHL, under Gary's leadership, has struck a significant deal with BetMGM.
In the face of fan criticism, the NHL has extended its partnership with BetMGM, aiming to feature the league more prominently.
According to
BetMGM CEO
Adam Greenblatt,
"Our partnership extension with the NHL is a winner. It enables us to enhance the BetMGM product and offer our fans unforgettable experiences built around the game they love. The NHL is more thrilling than ever – a symphony of athleticism, teamwork, and skill on skates. We look forward to bringing our customers exceptional live experiences and delighting with new in-app content for BetMGM."
While this partnership will bring a heightened focus on the NHL's association with gambling websites, something that has drawn fan criticism for over a year, the league is striving to boost revenue through gambling. However, fans have grown uneasy with the constant advertisements.
Adding to the discontent, fans voiced criticism when
Shane Pinto received a 41-game suspension for sports betting. Despite the NHL's pursuit of financial gains through partnerships with betting companies, they maintain stringent rules for their players. This aspect is likely to be a contentious issue in the upcoming collective bargaining agreement.
