After putting up 39 points in 49 games in 2020-21, Garland found himself traded from the Arizona Coyotes to Vancouver ahead of the 2021-22 season. In his first year with the Canucks, Garland racked up a respectable 52 points in 77 games, but saw a bit of a drop off in production last season, reaching just 46 points in 81 games. With a near $5M cap hit through 2025-26, the Canucks reportedly tried to move Garland before the season began, but to no avail.
Per Friedman, the Canucks are looking to free up at least $1M-$2M in any deal involving Garland, so taking back another $5M contract is essentially out of the question. Friedman also listed 3 teams as potential landing spots for the 27-year-old winger. Those 3 teams are Columbus, Winnipeg and Nashville.
