Today, it became public that Jakob Silfverberg of the Anaheim Ducks has received some bad news. The 32-year-old forward told a media outlet in his home country of Sweden that he is suffering from another blood clot in his leg. It's the same injury that forced him out of action for close to 30 games in the 2021-22 season.
"The doctors here at home said that there is an increased risk of suffering again if you get a big bang in the same place where you previously had a clot and then fly (in a plane). And I said that's kind of my everyday life."
"From a purely medical standpoint, there is no danger." - Jakob Silfverberg.
Silfverberg said the clot was diagnosed after be played at the World Championships for Sweden in May. Doctors believe it occurred after blocking a shot. The treatment for the issue is blood thinners and rest. Silfverberg does not expect to miss any time.
Silfverberg is in the last year of his contract with the Ducks.
"I have not heard anything other than that I will finish my contract, I know nothing more than what is written and have not actually read anything in it either. I think my agent will contact me if there is anything, but I haven't heard a word." - Silfverberg
Silfverberg has made it clear he'd like to return home and finish his hockey career at home in Europe.
