42 players placed on waivers ahead of NHL roster deadline

The National Hockey League's 2023-24 season will get underway in just four days, with rosters due at 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 10th

As teams around the league continue their preseason games and training camps, rosters are being cut down in preparation for opening night. As is the case every year before the season begins, that means several players have been put on the waiver wire.

According to PuckPedia, a total of 42 players have been placed on Friday's waiver wire including notable players like Florida Panthers 2018 first round pick Grigori Denisenko and Philadelphia Flyers former top prospect Wade Allison.

As is always the case from the opening of the waiver wire until the end of October, the order of teams that can place a claim is based off of last season's standings in reverse. The Anaheim Ducks get the first crack at placing a claim on any of the players above, followed by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks.

If any of the players above go unclaimed on Saturday afternoon, they'll be assigned to their respective teams American Hockey League affiliate.
