Patrik Laine of the Montreal Canadiens was hit hard by Cedric Pare of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Laine immediately went down on the ground following the play and it was impossible for him to get up on his own. He was eventually helped up by training staff and taken to the locker room where he was eventually ruled out of the game. From there, he left the Bell Centre on crutches, and fans have been waiting to hear about his injury.
Today, we finally got an update on the injury from Steve Kouleas. According to his reporting, Laine has been given a severe prognosis that will have him out for the rest of 2024. This is devastating news and we're sure Habs fans are feeling absolutely awful about it. It remains to be seen what the diagnosis is and when Laine can return to the ice.
Despite his injury, Laine has been showing that he is a great teammate. For instance, on Monday, he showed up to practice where he was seen supporting his teammates from behind the bench. If one thing is for certain, it is that Laine has turned over a new leaf.
We are wishing Patrik Laine a speedy recovery during this very difficult time. Laine came into this season motivated to show people what he can do. Instead, he is having to rehab due to a reckless play that has no place in the game. Regardless of the team you may support, you cannot help but feel for him right now.
