Head coach Jim Montgomery provided an update on Lucic's rehabilitation during Monday's practice, stating,
Lucic has been out of action since October 21, following a game against the Los Angeles Kings where he took a Derek Forbort slapshot to the ankle. Despite attempts to return the next day against the Anaheim Ducks, he has been on long-term injury reserve since October 27. While technically eligible to come off LTIR for the Saturday game against the Montreal Canadiens, his return seems unlikely.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 236 pounds, Lucic, who rejoined the Bruins this season, has contributed two assists in four games. The veteran player, renowned for his earlier stint with the Bruins from 2007-08 to 2014-15, played a vital role in the team's 2010-11 Stanley Cup victory, showcasing his prowess with 30 goals and 32 assists in that standout season.
In addition to Lucic, the Bruins are grappling with other absences, including forward Morgan Geekie and defenseman Matt Grzelcyk, both sidelined due to shoulder injuries. Grzelcyk, in particular, finds himself on long-term injured reserve.
