Edmonton Oilers Star Set To Receive Massive Fine After A Nasty Cross-check
In the Edmonton Oilerspost-coaching-change debut, each player seemed determined to leave their mark on the game. Leon Draisaitl did just that, making a significant impact on the scoresheet while also engaging in a physical confrontation with the New York Islanders.
During a board battle with Bo Horvat, Draisaitl delivered a forceful cross-check aimed at the knees, causing Horvat to tumble to the ice.
Given the nature of the hit and the potential for injury, this play might undergo a review by the Department of Player Safety. While a suspension seems unlikely, a fine for the aggressive play could be in the cards.
Despite this incident, Draisaitl showcased a dominant performance, contributing a goal and three assists that propelled the Oilers to a 4-1 victory under the guidance of new head coach Kris Knoblauch.
However, with a current record of 4-9-1 and sitting near the bottom of the NHL standings, the Oilers face a considerable journey to meet the expectations of contending for the Stanley Cup this season.
