Tensions flared in a flash during tonight's clash between the Canucksand the Leafs. Leafs defenseman Mark Giordano wasted no time expressing his displeasure with a questionable hit on David Kampf, engaging in fisticuffs with a young Canucks forward.

The incident unfolded less than five minutes into the game, sparked by Joshua's hit on Giordano's teammate, David Kampf. Notably, despite the presence of the fourth line, including renowned enforcer Ryan Reaves, it was the 40-year-old defenseman who stepped up, surprising many.

Giordano swiftly earned favoritism among Leafs fans for his willingness to drop the gloves, drawing cheers from the Scotiabank Arena faithful. Social media echoed the sentiment, with Leafs circles lauding the veteran for the unexpected bout.

However, this act of team solidarity came at a cost. Giordano incurred an instigator penalty, forcing his team to defend for two minutes down a man.

Despite this setback, fans in the arena seemed to accept the trade-off, emphasizing the importance of standing up for teammates, especially on a Leafs team occasionally criticized for its perceived lack of physicality.

The 40-year-old defenseman also found himself with a 10-minute misconduct penalty as a result of the altercation.
