John Klingberg was a disastrous pickup for the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 2023, however, it would appear as though his future with the team isn't exactly fully negative.

For starters, Klingberg only played 14 games with the Maple Leafs last season. He had a negative +/- and he ended up only scoring a total of five points. The defenseman is currently a free agent, and it seems as though he is still hanging out with his Maple Leafs buddies.
In the image below, you can see that Klingberg was hanging out with Pontus Holmberg and his girlfriend. This, of course, now has Maple Leafs fans speculating about Klingberg coming back to the Leafs.

If Klingberg does return to the franchise, it will likely have to be as a seventh defenseman. As it stands, Klingberg has too much injury baggage to get a good contract. Instead, a veteran minimum might be his only option. Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs give him a second chance.
Do you believe that John Klingberg will return to the Toronto Maple Leafs? Let us know in the poll down below. Additionally, stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
