As many already know, Liljegren is signed to a two-year $6 million deal. For a while there, Liljegren was having himself a solid time. However, as of late, the defenseman has not been getting the playing time that he desires. In fact, he was a healthy scratch for the first game of the season between the Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens.
This raised a few eyebrows. It is clear that head coach Craig Berube is not the biggest fan of Liljegren which has ultimately led to this predicament. Now, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet is reporting that a trade could be coming very soon.
The Leafs will certainly be hoping to get an upgrade. In the first game of the season, they lost 1-0 at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens. Interestingly enough, the Leafs played a good game. They had 47 shots on goal. It's just that Sam Montembeault stood on his head and pitched a record-breaking shutout in the season opener.
