Ryan Reaves is a player who has always pushed the envelope and while playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, he has struggled.

Throughout last season, he was frequently a healthy scratch. Although he was brought in to be a tough guy and be an enforcer for a skilled team, he never got chances to do that. Not to mention, he started to become a fall guy in the media as reporters and fans were consistently giving the fighter a piece of their mind.
While appearing on Spittin Chiclets recently, Reaves spoke on the media pressure and fan engagement that comes with playing in Toronto. In fact, he was not very complimentary of the fans in Toronto. During the podcast episode, he said that a lot of the fans who make mean-spirited comments about him live in their parents basement.

"It was hard for me at the beginning of the year because I was playing like s**t," Reaves said. "When you are not performing here, the media jumps on you, the fans - who are sitting in their parents' basement - they're jumping on you."

While that very well may be the case, it still isn't exactly something that you should be saying so loudly and openly like this. Regardless, Reaves is a passionate guy and he clearly cares a lot about the game of hockey. This season, it will be interesting to see whether or not head coach Craig Berube gives him more chances to be himself.
