The St. Louis Blues didn't have to search far for their new head coach. Drew Bannister, who filled the interim role after Craig Berube's departure, has officially been named the twenty-seventh head coach in the team's history. The announcement came on Tuesday, with Bannister sealing a two-year deal with the team.

Bannister led the Blues for the final fifty-four games of the season, tallying a commendable record of 30-19-5. This performance ranked 12th in terms of winning percentage during that period.

Hailing from Sudbury, Ontario, Bannister boasts six seasons within the Blues organization, with three of those spent coaching their AHL affiliate, the Thunderbirds, in Springfield. Notably, he guided the team to the Calder Cup final during the 20212022 season.

While changing coaches mid-season is never ideal, sometimes it's necessary to spark a turnaround before it's too late. Fortunately, the Blues responded positively to Bannister's leadership, showing promising signs for the team's future.

Whether the Blues are entering a rebuilding phase or simply need to adjust their approach remains to be seen. However, a fresh perspective and new philosophy under Bannister's guidance could be just what the team needs to regain consistency and success on the ice.
