Insider Elliotte Friedman, speaking on Sportsnet earlier today, confirmed the Senators' intentions to bring Green on board. He emphasized, "All eyes on Travis Green and we'll see what the next few days brings."
Additionally, Sens insider Bruce Garrioch hinted at an imminent press conference where Green is expected to be formally introduced as the team's new head coach.
Green recently served as interim head coach for the New Jersey Devils after the departure of Lindy Ruff. Despite being in the running for the permanent position, the Devils opted to explore other candidates, opening the door for Green to pursue opportunities elsewhere, including Ottawa.
A seasoned veteran of the NHL, Green previously helmed the Vancouver Canucks from 2017 to 2022, until he was succeeded by Bruce Boudreau. Before transitioning into coaching, Green enjoyed a lengthy playing career spanning 970 games across various teams, including the New York Islanders, Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins.
While awaiting official confirmation from the Senators, all signs point to Green's imminent arrival.
