Just a few weeks ago, Doug Armstrong and the St. Louis Blues committed a heist on the Edmonton Oilers by acquiring the likes of Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway.

Overall, they were able to do this via offer sheets. The Oilers opted not to match the offers, and both of their young talents went to St. Louis. While speaking to Sportsnet 590 The Fan, Armstrong got brutally honest about the acquisition of these two young players.
In his mind, the team completely overpaid. However, this is a calculation they felt was worth making given all of the factors involved.
"We overpaid, obviously. If you look at their careers and what they've done to date, it doesn't match what their contracts are. But cap space is a weapon. And we had the cap space. We weren't going to use it in another this year or likely next year. So we wanted to use it to acquire young players."

Broberg and Holloway may not appreciate these comments very much. However, Armstrong is just being brutally honest. Moreover, it is important for players to be understanding of their value. At the end of the day, Broberg and Holloway should simply be happy that a team wanted them so badly that they spent more than they should have. It just shows that these two have potential.
