According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the Toronto Maple Leafs are very close to making a move for Pacioretty. They just signed Nick Robertson to a one-year deal, and now, Dreger believes Pacioretty will be the next domino to fall.
If the Leafs were to get Pacioretty on a one-year deal of sorts, it would be extremely low risk. At the end of the day, the Leafs just want to fill out their roster. Pacioretty knows what it is like to be a young scorer in the league, and perhaps he can offer some advice to the younger guys on the roster. Not to mention, he used to play for the Montreal Canadiens, so he is very much used to the bright lights and media attention of a big market.
