Sidney Crosby finally breaks his silence on Pittsburgh Penguins negotiations

His legacy is cemented, however, he still has some gas left in the tank. His goal is to win another championship, and he will do anything to get it. Having said that, Crosby has been in the midst of contract negotiations with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Many expected him to sign a deal over a month ago. However, nothing has come about. In fact, insiders like Elliotte Friedman have theorized that Crosby could go elsewhere to win himself another Cup.

Well, according to reporter Joshua Clipperton, Crosby has finally spoken out about the negotiations. While in Las Vegas, Crosby revealed that he is "pretty optimistic" about how things are shaping up. Moreover, he believes he should have a deal done before the season starts, but he cannot say for sure when the exact date will be.

If you are a Pittsburgh Penguins fan, this is some amazing news. You have all been waiting for a deal to get done and it seems like it is almost done. However, you cannot get complacent just yet. There is still a chance that the deal falls through. You can never be too sure when it comes to this kind of thing.

Regardless, Sidney Crosby is a Penguins legend and it is more likely than not that the team is going to reward him with a new contract. If they don't it would be organizational malpractice to the highest degree. Hopefully, we get confirmation on a new deal sooner rather than later.
