Kyle Dubas made waves in his first offseason with the Pittsburgh Penguins by adding talents like Reilly Smith and Erik Karlsson, aiming for Stanley Cup contention.

However, with the team now sitting at a 28-27-8 record and eight points shy of a Wild Card spot, their playoff hopes are fading, especially after trading away Jake Guentzel, a key asset.

P.K. Subban, on ESPN's pre-game segment, critiqued GM Kyle Dubas with a pointed remark:

"Apparently, that's all it takes. You put on a pair of spectacles, it makes you the smartest person in the room. It's so disheartening to see Sidney Crosby like that. He deserves better."

The Penguins' disappointing season and the trade of Guentzel have led to scrutiny over Dubas's management. Subban further commented,

"I don't think they did that this year, that's a missed opportunity. If you're managing the game's best player, the face of the league for a long time, that's a huge responsibility, and if you can't handle the heat sometimes in the kitchen, you gotta get out of there." Emphasizing the unmet expectations under Dubas's stewardship.
