Wayne Simmonds has come full circle and signed a one-day contract with the Philadelphia Flyers as he wished to retire with that organization. Many felt across the league that this would be the way his career as he had spent the bulk of his time in the NHL with the Flyers.

During his press conference after the signing, Simmonds weighed in on what it meant to him to become a member of the Flyers again even if it's for only one day.

"Philadelphia has always had a special place in my heart," he said. "The people of Philadelphia accepted me as one of their own. Being there for eight years...I loved every second of it."

During his time in the city of brotherly love, he played 584 games. He scored 200 and three goals with 175 assists. He also battled injuries throughout his career and especially with the Flyers which led to his trade in 2019.

"I gave everything I had to Philadelphia," he said. "[Injuries] kind of cut my career short, but I wouldn't change it one bit. Every ounce, every tear, all the sweat, all the teeth I haveor don't have, I should say!it was just something I was willing to do whatever I could possibly do to try and win. I always meant every single thing that I did...I got so much love from the fans there, so it was just important to me that I did give it my all."

He will be honored prior to the game when the Flyers suit up against the New Jersey Devils which will be held on April 13th at Wells Fargo Center.
