Veteran's Time with Penguins May be Coming to an End Following Candid Comments

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson certainly appears to be expecting a trade this week based on his latest comments.
The Pittsburgh Penguins lost in spectacular fashion to the Toronto Maple Leafs this afternoon, wasting a miraculous comeback effort as
William Nylander ended the game 6-5 in overtime.
The result of the game did not matter much to the Penguins anyways, as the team is destined for the draft lottery rather than the playoffs this season.
However, the team has just one game left on their schedule before Friday's trade deadline, so this one may have been the last time we got a chance to see some of these players in the yellow and black.
After the game, Karlsson spoke to reporters as normal. Some of his comments were rather revealing though.
He spoke about playing with the Penguins in the past tense, implying that he knows this may have been his last game with the team.
His words certainly sound like something a player that is expecting to be traded soon would say.
"We haven't played up to the potential that we believe we have in here. That's tough. But again, I love all the guys. I've had a good time here. And I'll continue and do so until my time is over."
Karlsson has been particularly productive over the past month, putting up three goals and 10 points over his last ten games, in addition to his strong performance with Sweden at the Four Nations tournament.
Hopefully this will help increase his trade value as he is now up to 8 goals and 45 points in 63 games.
Perhaps on a better team, his defensive deficiencies would be covered by stronger overall team defense and goaltending.
