The Pittsburgh Penguins future looks brighter now than it did a year ago, and now they've confirmed the signing of a very talented 20-year old defenseman, who could be an intriguing piece of the Penguins future if developed correctly.
This season, the Pittsburgh Penguins have made several moves for their future, adding significant draft capital over the next three years as they look to build a contender for the future.
Now, they've added another intriguing piece, as the team announced on Monday that they have signed 20-year old defenseman
Finn Harding of the OHL's Brampton Steelheads.
The talented young blue liner served as the teams alternate captain this past season, while thus far posting a career high of 48 assists and 55 points in 59 games played for the Steelheads.
Standing at 6-foot-1, the defenseman has the size, the vision, the IQ and the physical gifts to be a very solid player at the next level, and despite not being drafted, his future in hockey is still very bright.
Sure, there may be much better defensive prospects out there, but it's not just been a one year success story for Harding, as he has improved every year in the OHL thus far, going from 10 points in his first full season to 55 in 2024/25,
It's unclear what his path to the NHL will look like or whether or not Harding will ever make it that far, but at 20-years of age he's eligible to play at the AHL level as soon as his OHL season is done, and with great talent and work ethic leading to immense improvement over the past three years, expect him to be a name to watch for the Penguins moving forward.
