Two rookies drop the gloves trying to make an impact before the end of camp
During preseason games, players will try and do whatever possible to try and make a good impression on their coach and teammates. The impression you make during the preseason can go a long way to making sure a player makes a roster, receives a call up or interests another team enough to draw trade interest. Last night the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers faced off in a preseason matchup and two rookies decided to try and make an impact.
During the 2nd period, Jakub Lauko and Louie Belpedio were both sent off for roughing after a whistle. After the two sat in the box for their two minute penalties neither managed to cool off and the moment they exited the box they immediately headed for each other and dropped the gloves for a spirited tilt.
While Belpedio appeared to win this one by decision, Lauko was a very game opponent and likely made a mark to help ensure he's on the opening night roster.
