Thursday afternoon saw some notable action on the wire as a seasoned forward with almost 900 NHL games under his belt was waived by his team.
As reported by Arthur Staple, the New York Rangers have opted to place 35-year-old forward Nick Bonino on waivers with the intention of assigning him to the American Hockey League.
Staple shared the news, stating,
"#NYR will be placing Nick Bonino on waivers this afternoon."
A Hartford native, Bonino has contributed in 45 games for the Rangers this season, tallying five points (one goal, four assists), eight penalty minutes, and holding a minus-12 rating. He inked a one-year contract with the Rangers on July 1st, valued at $800,000.
