Elliotte Friedman Drops A Massive Bomb Regarding Star Defensemen Being Traded
A seasoned NHL player is gearing up for a change of scenery, and it seems he'll be watching from the press box tonight as his team hits the ice.
Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman reports that Tyson Barrie of the Nashville Predators has been greenlit to explore potential trades. However, Barrie won't be lacing up for the game against the New York Rangers tonight.
Friedman shared,
"There is word today the Nashville Predators have given Tyson Barrie permission to talk to other teams. Barrie is expected to be a scratch vs the Rangers and is a UFA after this season. This allows team and player to see if there is a better fit elsewhere."
The reason behind Barrie's benching remains uncertain whether it's a strategic move for a potential trade or merely a precautionary measure to keep him healthy amid trade discussions.
With a career spanning back to 2011, Barrie, initially drafted by the Colorado Avalanche, has experienced stints with various teams, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers. In the current season, he's logged 0 goals and 9 assists in 22 games. His contract, set to conclude at the season's end, carries a cap hit of $4.5 million.
