Trevor Zegras is one of the most electric players to watch in the NHL, however, he can be very inconsistent.

As a result, Zegras has been part of numerous trade rumors. In fact, he has been linked a lot to the Montreal Canadiens. Well, it would appear as though Zegras was almost a Hab during the draft. In a new report from Marco Normandin from HABSolumentFan, sources say Kent Hughes was close to a deal.
Essentially, the Habs were willing to give away Logan Mailloux and a first-round pick for Zegras. Although they ended up pulling out of the deal. One could only imagine the shockwaves this would have sent throughout the league.

"According to what I'm told by an NHL source close to the situation, the Montreal Canadiens had an agreement on the table to acquire star forward Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks a few weeks ago.

At the start of the first round of the annual NHL draft taking place in Las Vegas in late June, the Canadiens and the Ducks had agreed on the basis of a transaction that would have sent Trevor Zegras to Montreal in addition to one of their 2nd round picks. In return, the Canadiens would have given up young defenseman Logan Mailloux as well as their later 1st round pick (21st overall) in 2024.

However, I'm told that it was the Canadiens who eventually made the decision not to complete the transaction and announced it to the Ducks during the first round."
