Arber Xhekaj is a player who plays on the edge and is consistently trying to lay down the law on those who mess with his Montreal Canadiens teammates.

Today, however, he went a little bit overboard with Tim Stutzle. Below, you can see that he hit Stutzle in the head in open ice. As a result, he was kicked out of the game. This happened during a preseason game against the Ottawa Senators. Earlier in the match, Kirby Dach was taken out by a big hit. In the eyes of some, Xhekaj's hit was a moment of retaliation.
This is not the first time Xhekaj has found himself in some trouble due to his retaliatory ways. Just a few days ago, he was fined for treating Cedric Pare like a ragdoll after a hit to Patrik Laine. Sure, he likes to go out there and defend his teammates, but sometimes, you can go a bit too overboard with this kind of thing. Moreover, other players throughout the league are going to start targeting him for this kind of stuff.
Only time will tell whether or not Xhekaj can last in the league with these kinds of antics and plays. At a certain point, the league will have to step in. After just being fined, it would not be surprising to see Xhekaj get some sort of suspension for his hit. Now, the ball is in the court of the National Hockey League.
Do you believe that Xhekaj has been too dirty with his hits as of late? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world. We will continue to keep you informed on your favorite players and teams.
