Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau's tragic passing has left the hockey world in a complete and utter state of disbelief.

Having said that, there has been all sorts of anticipation for what the Columbus Blue Jackets have planned this season as a means of honoring their former player and his brother. In fact, today, the Blue Jackets released their entire plan, and it is quite significant.

Beginning with the club's first preseason game at the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, September 23 through the duration of the 2024-25 season, Blue Jackets players will wear a special sticker on their helmets. The sticker is blue with gray trim and features GAUDREAU, two doves between the numbers 13, which Johnny wore throughout his career, and 21, which Matthew wore at Boston College, in white.

Moreover, the Blue Jackets will be playing with a patch for what appears to be the entire season. Fans will also be able to own this patch for themselves when they show up for the home opener on October 15th against the Florida Panthers. It is a great move and we're sure fans will agree.

As Elliotte Friedman noted, the team is also going to keep Gaudreau's stall in the locker room. His jersey will hang there all season long, and it is surely going to inspire some emotion from the Blue Jackets players.
