Swayman is currently looking for a deal that pays him a healthy $10 million per year. However, according to reports, the Bruins only want to give Swaman around $6.2 million. It is not ideal in the least bit, and now, General Manager Don Sweeney needs to get something done.
This is especially true as training camp is about to begin and Swayman is looking to hold out. Sweeney knows time is running out, and he said as much during a press conference today.
According to Elliotte Friedman, the team believes it can get a deal done by December 1st. If they don't, they will not be able to negotiate until the Summer. Needless to say, time is running out and there is no guarantee that the team is able to get something done.
One has to wonder if Swayman will agree to play this season without a deal. If he tries his hand at what NFL players do, it could be a long stretch of hockey for the Bruins. At this point, cooler heads need to prevail and a deal has to come to fruition.
