The recent release of Stanley Cup Champion Corey Perry from the Chicago Blackhawks has left fans wondering about the lack of detailed information. A new report sheds light on why the team chose to keep the matter under wraps.

Sports reporter Martin Leclerc provided a clear explanation on Radio-Canada, addressing the Blackhawks' decision to maintain privacy, especially concerning another staff member.

"Many people blame the Blackhawks for their lack of transparency in this story. The problem is that someone was a victim of Perry's unacceptable behavior. And as an employer, [Chicago Blackhawks GM] Kyle Davidson has the responsibility to protect the anonymity of this victim, even within his organization."

Leclerc emphasized that this approach aligns with standard practices in workplaces across North America.

"If similar allegations occurred in a law firm, a factory, or any other workplace, no employer would disclose the existence of an investigation before it is completed, nor the names of the people involved. That would be downright irresponsible."

The challenge lies in maintaining the privacy of the other staff member, who has the right to anonymity. Revealing specific details jeopardizes that right, even though Perry's visibility on screens worldwide makes keeping his release entirely private an impossible task.
