BREAKING: Blackhawks Top Prospect Will Officially Be Stepping Away From The NHL
In a surprising move, the Chicago Blackhawks have shaken up their roster by bringing up defenseman Isaac Phillips from the Rockford IceHogs, their AHL affiliate.
However, this shift comes with a twist the Blackhawks have placed defenseman Kevin Korchinski on the non-roster list.
This decision opens up a valuable roster spot for the Blackhawks, and according to the NHL, players are typically placed on the non-roster for reasons other than injuries, such as special events, personal matters, or disabilities.
In this instance, the 2023 World Junior Camp for Team Canada is set to start tomorrow, leading many to believe that Korchinski, who is eligible for one more season in the World Juniors, would be representing his country. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Kevin Korchinski will be taking a temporary leave from the NHL to attend a family matter.
Luke Richardson shared,
"Kevin Korchinski was placed on non-roster due to a family matter. We send our thoughts and prayers to Korchinski."
