Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed by a drunk driver last week while they were riding their bikes near their hometown of Salem, New Jersey.

As it stands, the perpetrator, Sean Higgins, is facing 20 years in prison. Meanwhile, it is being reported that the brothers were coming home from the wedding rehearsal when they were hit. Overall, it is a horrific tragedy that has left the entire hockey world in a complete state of shock and mourning.
At the Saddledome in Calgary, an overwhelming amount of tributes have begun pouring in. As you can see in the images below, there are hockey sticks, flowers, teddy bears, and all sorts of chalk signatures and drawings. It is a spectacular sight to see that showcases just how beloved Johnny Hockey was in the city.

Beyond just the fan tributes, the league has been tasked with thinking of new ways to honor the oldest Gaudreau brother. One of the suggestions has been to rename the Lady Byng after him. Meanwhile, others believe the Flames should raise his jersey to the rafters.
Our heart goes out to the Gaudreaus and the entire hockey community during this incredibly difficult time. We hope everyone is able to find peace following this truly awful tragedy.
