Jeremy Swayman is easily one of the best goalies in the entire NHL, although he is currently in a standoff with the Boston Bruins over his upcoming contract.

Overall, Swayman is an RFA which means he can only negotiate with the Bruins. While he could get hit with an offer sheet, his salary is going to be too high, which would then force prospective teams to give up numerous draft picks. Simply put, an offer sheet just wouldn't be worth it.

According to Rich Keefe of Jones and Keefe on WEEI radio in Boston, the Swayman situation is not looking good. Why? Because he is asking for $10 million per year. This is a bit of an issue when you consider how the Bruins only have about $8.6 million in cap space. Essentially, they would have to trade some guys out.

Cam Neely previously stated that he is confident a deal will get done. It is a matter of when and not if. However, with Swayman demanding such a high salary, the Bruins are certainly at risk. Goalies are never a guarantee as injuries and confidence issues can derail careers.

If you are a Bruins fan, you are probably a bit nervous about what is happening right now. That said, all you can do is just sit back and trust the process. Needless to say, it's good that Swayman isn't a UFA yet. Otherwise, there is a good chance he would be gone by now.
