David Pastrnak and the Boston Bruins were able to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first-round of the NHL playoffs back in May.

Of course, Pastrnak was the one who scored the game-winning goal in Game 7 to secure the victory. Eventually, the Bruins went on to lose to the Florida Panthers, who went and won the Stanley Cup just a month later. Since that time, the Bruins have done some retooling, as have the Toronto Maple Leafs. Interestingly enough, Pastrnak has a surprising admission about the series and the Bruins as a whole.

During the European Media Tour, Pastrnak claims that he felt like the Bruins weren't even supposed to make the playoffs last year. As for the Toronto Maple Leafs, he believes they should have beaten the Bruins last season, with relative ease.

"We proved a lot of people wrong, last year. We were not even supposed to make the playoffs. We beat a better team on paper."

For Bruins fans, making such an admission is likely akin to blasphemy. Having said that, it is an honest assessment, and you have to respect Pastrnak for being his authentic self. Besides, they got the satisfaction of beating Toronto, and that should be enough for them and their fans until this upcoming season.

Do you believe that David Pastrnak in correct in his assessment of these two teams? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to Hockey Unplugged for the latest news and updates from around the hockey world.
