NHL Insider Drops A Bomb Regarding A Star Player
Charlie McAvoy, a defenseman for the Boston Bruins, has taken a decisive step by appealing his four-game suspension following a hit to the head on Oliver Ekman-Larsson, which occurred just before Halloween. According to inside sources at Sportsnet, McAvoy is looking to have the league reconsider the length of his suspension.
"Hearing Charlie McAvoy is planning on appealing his four-game suspension,"
said the source.
The final decision on McAvoy's appeal rests with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman since the suspension falls under six games.
"Because it was under six games, Commissioner Gary Bettman has the final say. Same as Rasmus Andersson," the report noted.
McAvoy's appeal, while raising eyebrows, adheres to NHL rules, which allow for either maintenance or reduction but not an extended suspension. The controversial head hit has drawn considerable attention, aligning with the NHL's commitment to eliminating such incidents from the game.
