At the NHL Draft, the Utah HC made a major impression by acquiring Tampa Bay Lightning defender Mikhail Sergachev.

The Utah HC made it obvious they were up for business when they announced they would be joining the NHL. following years spent in the desert. Despite the Arizona Coyotes' lackluster performance, Ryan Smith was determined to show that he belonged among the big guys.

He made a big splash on the second day of the NHL draft when he acquired Mikhail Sergachev from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tampa has traded Mikhail Sergachev to Utah for Conor Geekie, JJ Moser, 2025 2nd (TOR), and Pick #199

This is a huge move for the Tampa Bay Lightning who get the opportunity to clear more cap space, acquire more draft Capital and potentially be a bigger player in free agency. There is no salary retained in the deal.
