Fake Jeremy Swayman Montreal Canadiens rumor tricks Bruins fans into being petrified

Jeremy Swayman is currently looking for a new contract with the Boston Bruins, however, the two sides are reportedly still far apart on a new deal.

With the latest reports coming out of Boston, NHL troll accounts on social media are looking to take advantage of the situation. For instance, the NHL rumor bot on social media floated a ridiculous trade idea. Essentially, it says the Montreal Canadiens would be sending Lane Hutson, Ivan Demidov, Sam Montembeault, and a 2025 second-round pick to the Bruins for Swayman.

Of course, this is a ridiculous trade for both sides. The Montreal Canadiens value Demidov and Hutson too highly. Meanwhile, the Bruins would never give up their franchise goaltender to a divisional rival like the Habs. However, this did not stop some people from getting duped by the Rumor Bot. Some even thought that this could be a viable trade, which is simply ridiculous.

Cam Neely recently spoke about the talks involving Jeremy Swayman. While both sides are far apart, Neely says it is not a matter of if but when.

"Something will get done. There's no question," Neely said. "I mean, not every negotiation is as smooth as you'd like it. I know our fan base would certainly love to have something done by now. But I'm fully confident that both sides will come to an agreement before too long here."
